CANADA: Graduate Studentships in Biomedical Sciences

The Minister of Higher Education hereby announces to the general public and interested candidates that the Australian Government is offering Australian Development Scholarships commencing in January 2011.the scholarships are for destined studies lasting 12-24 months at Master’s level in Australian Universities.

ELIGIBILITY:

- Be of Cameroonian nationality;

- Be an early or mid-career professional currently employed by a Cameroon Public Sector Organisation or training Institution (including parastatals and other public sector entities;

- Must be less than 50 years of age or minimum 18 years at the time of commencement of the scholarship;

- Possess as a minimum, a Bachelors degree and at least 3 years post graduation work experience;

- Meet all the eligibility criteria on www.adsafrica.com.au .

PRIORITY SECTORS:

· Agriculture and food security;

· Mining materials and natural resource management;

· Public policy including public sector reform, trade and diplomacy;

· Maternal and child health;

· Water and Sanitation.

CANADA: Graduate Studentships in Biomedical Sciences

The Department of Biomedical Sciences, University of Guelph, is seeking applications for graduate studentships in Biomedical Sciences. The department offers graduate programs leading to degrees in five main areas of study: Biomedical Toxicology and Pharmacology; Reproductive Biology and Development; Cancer Biology; Cardiovascular Physiology; and Neuroscience.

Direct entry to the Ph.D. program is available for well qualified applicants with previous research experience and strong academic qualifications. The Ph.D. program offers guaranteed stipends of CAN$21,000 per annum, which may be augmented by income from graduate teaching assistant positions, leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in 3-4 years depending on previous research qualifications. The M.Sc. program offers minimum stipends of CAN$17,500 per annum leading to a Master of Science degree in two years. In addition, one year course-based programs are offered leading to the degree of Master of Biomedical Sciences, with specializations in Reproductive Biotechnologies and Pharmacology/Regulatory Affairs, in addition to the 5 main areas of study indicated above.
